Check out these stunning paint drop sculptures by Chris Dorosz. Watch this, too.
“Out of material discovery I began to regard the primacy of the paint drop, a form that takes shape not from a brush or any human-made implement or gesture, but purely from its own viscosity and the air it falls through, as analogous to the building blocks that make up the human body (DNA) or even its mimetic representation (the pixel).”

Julian Edelman.

“Edelman really impressed at his pro day workout in the Kent State Field House. Edelman ran a 4.51 second 40-yard dash, which would have topped all quarterbacks at the NFL Scouting Combine in February and placed him in the top 15 among receivers. Edelman’s times of 3.91 seconds in the short shuttle and 10.74 in the long shuttle would have been the fastest times recorded at the Combine, regardless of position.”

The report, based on a survey of 88 retailers and manufacturers in the spring of 2009, revealed without the help of each other, brands “get too promotional and miss the bigger picture of consumer engagement in the store, while retailers lack the more nuanced shopper insights that brands can provide.

Seth Godin: The law of the little shovel

“The important thing to remember is that separate events are often separate. If you use the same ineffective approach on one thousand people, it’s not going to start working better just because you use it more often.

Connected events, on the other hand, often benefit from frequency and trust.

Which leads to two viable strategies:
1. If you can stay still, stay still. Earn the trust, earn the sale by repeatedly demonstrating value and authority.

2. If you can’t stay still, get a bigger shovel. Your marketing and your sales pitch has to be so refined and focused that it works the first time, because you don’t get a second time.”

Great brands and projects are built on real value and a real advantage, but great marketers use this as a supporting column, not the entire foundation.

Instead, they build a story on top of their head start.

Twitter is emerging as a powerful platform for business because it’s expansive; it introduces you to new people, rather than merely reconnecting you with the folks you already know.

Someone with value to give to a potential customer opens straightforwardly but gently. Qualifying the prospect correctly is more important at this stage than making a sale, any sale. If the product or service isn’t right for the prospect, then no big deal - walk away. When and if a fit becomes apparent, the superstar salesperson turns up the pressure and pushes for a sale that will make the customer’s life better.

Passive Early, Aggressive Late - usually the right sequence to optimize sales long term.

History Of Running Shoes

“In 1917 special shoes called plimsolls were introduced into the market. These were manufactured using a special technique called vulcanization. This process used heat to fuse together rubber and cloth, creating a pair of shoes that were not only comfortable but were extremely lightweight. In fact, they were so easy to use on the feet that a person wearing plimsolls could go about without anyone hearing a squeak from the shoes. This gave the shoes its popular name ‘sneakers’.”

The recent decline in China stock valuations, together with the magnitude and duration of China’s potential growth, makes today an “unprecedented investment opportunity.
